Oda does not want his readers to be spoiled on some of the series deepest secrets through social media. That is why the author and his editors have said recently, the story is inching ever closer to the finale of the story and many secrets and mysteries will come to light including what the actual flipping one piece is so they advise to just pick it up and start watching/reading as fast as you can.
But yeah now a days its almost an impossible thing not to see on the internet. How ever there are some of us that has been following one piece up to that point when the scans were released and so there for they didn't get spoiled. Most readers and or watchers certainly have.
